Two days without supplies in nature
What happens to your brain when you live in the middle of nature for two days without any supplies? In the middle of the forest, I once again discovered how powerful simplicity can be. Last weekend we took the time once more to camp in the forest; without water or any other supplies. A complete return to the basics, to experience nature and silence.
Before going to sleep, we heard red deer barking in the distance. Early in the morning, the cuckoo. During the day, a chorus of frogs that continued without end. It is exactly that simplicity and connection with nature that bring me deep reflection and calm. It helps me to pause, both literally and figuratively.
Nature gives me space to organise my thoughts and to "reprogram" my mind in a different way: to be more present in the moment and to experience the day as it is.
Research shows that spending a few days fully in nature can contribute to recovery, relaxation, and a renewed sense of energy. As a result, you often return to daily life with more calm, balance, and awareness.
This weekend was exactly such a moment for us, Christiaan Roos.
When was the last time you made space for "doing absolutely nothing"?
