Parent and child pathways

Alongside individual sessions for parents, I also offer pathways for parents and children together. This can be with parents and child jointly, or individually with the child. I provide support around attachment, connection, and parenting questions you may be facing.

What I can offer:

  • Sessions with parents and child together, for example starting together and then meeting separately with the child.
  • Sessions with parents on their own, a mediating form of treatment in which parents receive practical guidance to continue working with the child at home.
  • Individual pathways for children, in which I work directly with the child. Wandering through the woods can help children experience the calming effect of nature. Not difficult one-to-one conversations, but therapy taking shape through walking and playful discovery in nature. We may strengthen the compassionate inner voice, learn ways to unwind from overstimulation, and use emotion-regulation techniques.

Who this is for

Who is this suitable for? It can be especially helpful for children who are sensitive to many stimuli. I prefer not to define children by labels, but to see the child in their uniqueness and respond to what is truly needed. Some children may have labels such as ADHD, ADD, or HSP. In my experience, nature and playful learning can help children regulate their emotions. By learning to release overstimulation in a playful way, space can return in the mind. From there, connection and attachment can begin to grow again.

The techniques I use depend on the child's age and development. With younger children I often work from emotion-regulation methods such as the EUREKA approach and exercises focused on recognising emotions. With older children, from around age 8, I may use helpful-thought work from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the compassionate inner voice.

I adapt therapy to where the child is socially and emotionally. For many years I have worked with children and young people around emotional development in my work as an educational psychologist and behavioural specialist.

When parents and children

truly meet each other again,

new connection can grow.
