Moving forward from your own strength

Moving forward thoughtfully, with compassion and from your own strength. When sensitivity to stimuli or high sensitivity becomes more pronounced, the world can feel overwhelming. It can then help to learn how to regulate emotions more effectively and explore how to move forward from a place of strength. This is among the things I do during my outdoor sessions as an outdoor psychologist at Sepora Practice.

Recently, I had an outdoor session with a ten-year-old boy with ADHD and a great sensitivity to stimuli. He found it difficult to sit still at school, which made learning difficult too. His emotions would constantly overwhelm him, shifting between anger, sadness and fear. During our sessions, we went into nature through play. After an hour together, I could see the relief in his face and the relaxation throughout his body: the calm to simply be and to listen.

Using nature to help emotions settle again was precisely what made a difference for him. From that calm, the brain is ready to explore the emotions that feel overwhelming. A brain that is continuously under stress does not have the capacity to learn. By allowing the brain to rest, space returns: space to BE and to live in the here and now.

Curious about an outdoor session? Alongside longer-term therapy, I also offer one-off conversations. During a no-obligation introductory meeting, I would be happy to explain more. I would be glad to hear from you.
