Do you live in the present, or build for the future?
Do you live in the present, or are you also building for the future?
Since turning forty and becoming a mother, I have noticed a clear shift in my thinking. Where I used to be mainly occupied with travel, adventure, and weekends away, I now also focus on building and on passing something on to the generation after me.
I have begun to see life more as a valuable piece of time that I am given for today. Especially after one of my closest friends died four years ago. Since then, I have had a wake-up call and I have realised all the more how important it is to live fully today too, as if this day were the only one I had.
How do you find the balance between living in the moment and investing in the future?
When the focus stays only on the here and now, investing can easily move into the background. But when investing in the future becomes the only pillar, there is a risk that you forget to live in the moment.
That is why I try to do both. I invest in the future, and I also try to receive the day as it is given to me. To notice the fullness of the day itself.
Do you recognise that tension too? And how do you keep the balance between the two?
