Going on a journey

Going on a journey.

Stepping out of your usual system and following a new rhythm. The rhythm of rest. Of simply being in a different reality. Sometimes that is what is needed, so that afterwards, new doors can open. A real step beyond comfort. It can be something small, simply being in a different environment. Or it can be something large, discovering other continents, customs and cultures.

Last summer we travelled through Western Canada in a 4x4 truck. It felt like an entirely different world. When I stood in the Rocky Mountains, something vast came over me. A knowing deep inside. A sense that it was time to move. To step out of comfort and towards new adventures in daily life. To leave the routine of old habits. Not only to feel that freedom on a faraway trip, but here too, close by, in ordinary life.

A year ago, I made that decision. To step out of daily routine and into a life with more adventure.

In one year, more has happened and changed than I could have imagined. I made a brave choice. I stepped out of the familiar and jumped into deep, unknown water.

In a symbolic way, the past year has taught me how to swim there. And it has brought deeper insight.

How did that happen? I allowed the new to come close. I jumped, and I have been following what is given.
